Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba

The Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba or simply Diano d'Alba is an Italian red wine from the municipality of Diano d'Alba in the province of Cuneo , Piedmont . Since 1974 he had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC). In 2010 it was upgraded to a “Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin” ( DOCG ), which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The cultivation and vinification of the wine may only take place in the municipality of Diano d'Alba. The wine-growing area is just a few kilometers south of the city of Alba , halfway between the well-known areas of Barolo and Barbaresco .

The Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba is made 100% from the Dolcetto grape variety , so it is single-origin . For the predicate "Superiore" the wine needs a minimum alcohol content of 12.5  vol% . The sale of Diano d'Alba may start on January 1st at the earliest, and of Diano d'Alba Superiore on September 1st of the year following the harvest.
