Tagliolo Monferrato ( Piedmontese Tajeu or Tajeo ) is a municipality with 1538 (as of December 31, 2019) inhabitants in the Italian province of Alessandria (AL), Piedmont region . The neighboring municipalities are Belforte Monferrato , Bosio , Casaleggio Boiro , Lerma , Ovada , Rossiglione and Silvano d'Orba .

history

The name of the place comes from taliolus , maybe an area with intensive logging was here. The place was founded in 976 after a feud between Aleramici and Otto I. It then became the property of various feudal lords. In 1750 the fief went to the Pinelli Gentile family, who are still the current owners of the castle.
