Borghetto di Borbera ( Piedmontese Borghet Borbaja , Ligurian o Borgheto ) is a municipality with 1951 (as of December 31, 2019) inhabitants in the Italian province of Alessandria (AL), Piedmont region .
The community consists of the districts Cerreto Ratti, Castel Ratti, Molo Borbera, Monteggio, Persi and Sorli. The neighboring municipalities are Cantalupo Ligure , Dernice , Garbagna , Grondona , Roccaforte Ligure , Sardigliano , Stazzano and Vignole Borbera .
geography
The place is located in the Borbera Valley (Val Borbera) and is at an altitude of 295 m above sea level in the Untertal. The municipality covers an area of 39.61 km² .
architecture
In the village there is still a medieval gate and one of the four towers of the old castle that collapsed into the river bed a long time ago. A well-preserved castle from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries can still be seen in the neighboring town of Torre Ratti. The new town hall is one of the first reinforced concrete structures in Italy from the beginning of the 20th century.
