history

Ricaldone's roots go back to the Middle Ages . The name of the place comes from the combination of the words Runcus and Aldonis (the genitive form of Aldo ). Runcus stands for the work of cultivating a thorny area and Aldo is a Longobard name that first appeared in Italy in the 7th century. The place is therefore a settlement of the Longobards who invaded this area around the year 642.

In Ricaldone, vines are grown for the Dolcetto d'Acqui , a red wine with DOC status. The berries of the Pinot Noir and / or Chardonnay grape varieties can be used to make Alta Langa sparkling wine .
