Albera Ligure ( Piedmontese Albera , Ligurian Arbea ) is a municipality with 293 (as of December 31, 2019) inhabitants in the Italian province of Alessandria (AL) in the Piedmont region .

The municipality consists of the districts Astrata , San Martino , Figino , Santa Maria , Vendersi , Vigo and Volpara . The neighboring communities are Cabella Ligure , Cantalupo Ligure , Fabbrica Curone , Montacuto and Rocchetta Ligure . The patron saint of the place is San Giovanni Battista .

history

The area of ​​the municipality was already settled in ancient times. In the 9th century the Benedictine Abbey Vendersi was built on the remains of an ancient monastery.
