geography
The place is at an altitude of 245 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 10 km².
history
The place originated in the High Middle Ages as a depository for salt, which was imported from Nice and transported from here along the Po to Turin . Over the centuries, Polonghera was ruled by various noble families until it fell into the hands of Ludovica Costa di Chieri in 1409 . The town's castle, which he built, was badly damaged by French troops on the way to Carmagnola in the 17th century .
