Crissolo is a northern Italian municipality in the Cottian Alps with 158 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in the province of Cuneo , Piedmont region , about 60 km southwest of Turin , in the uppermost Po Valley .

It has been a member of the Comunità Montana Valli Po, Bronda e Infernotto mountain community since 2006 , which was expanded in 2008 to become the Comunità Montana Valli Po, Bronda, Infernotto e Varaita .

The municipality of Crissolo is located about 1300 m above sea level in the Valle Po, about 7 km as the crow flies from the sources of the Po .

The municipality, with its area of ​​48 km² , was created on the north side of the valley. The Via Valle Po (Strada Statale 662) comes up from the river and leads from Saluzzo (edge ​​of the Po Valley) to Paesana , the capital of the mountain valley , from the east .

Two mountain huts can be reached from Crissolo : the Rifugio Quintino Sella (2640 m) on the Lago Grande di Viso and the Rifugio Mont Viso (2460 m).

A two-day mountain tour is the Giro del Viso , which - partly on the French side ( Bergerie du Grand Vallon ) - leads around the giant mountain to the Rifugio Vallanta (2450 m) above the southern neighboring valley, Valle Varaita .

To develop winter sports, new ski lifts have been built, for example on Monte Grane (2,318 m) and Pian Regina (1745 m). In this way, the emigration of valley residents should also be stopped.
