The Rifugio Vallanta ( 2450 m slm ) is a mountain hut in the Cottian Alps of the northern Italian province of Cuneo , Piedmont region, which is managed during the summer months . The Rifugio des Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) belongs to the municipality of Pontechianale (upper Varaita Valley, also Valle Varaita ) and is located below Monte Viso (3,841 m) near the Passo di Vallanta.
Transitions
- As part of the Giro del Monviso (2-day mountain hike around Monte Viso) through the Buco di Viso , one of the oldest tunnels in the Alps, to the Rifugio Vitale Giacoletti and the Rifugio Quintino Sella . These two huts are located in the valley head of the neighboring Valle Po to the north .
