Winter area of the Stettiner Hütte , Ötztal Alps

A winter room is located on mountain huts used for tourism that are not managed in winter. In contrast to the rest of the hut, the winter area is easily accessible and mostly not locked or accessible with the Alpine Club key.

Self-caterers can also stay overnight in a winter room during this time of year. Usually there are beds with blankets, often a wood stove or gas stove with dishes, solar light , etc.

The overnight fee announced on the notice is either placed in cash in the hut cash desk in the winter area ( trust cash desk ) or transferred to the hut-owning section of the Alpine Club.

Most of the Alpine Club huts in the Alps have a winter room.
