Enrico Fissore

Enrico Fissore (born January 23, 1939 in Bra ) is an Italian opera singer ( bass ).

Fissore studied singing with Michele Accorinti at the Turin Conservatory. He began his career as a specialist in baroque opera up to Rossini and Mozart . He later expanded his repertoire to include bass buffo and tragic opera roles from the romantic and early 20th century.

He is considered one of the most important international opera bassists in Italy and has performed at major opera houses and under well-known conductors around the world. He sang Leporello in Don Giovanni under Wolfgang Sawallisch and Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro under Peter Schneider at the Bavarian State Opera . At the invitation of James Levine he performed at the Metropolitan Opera in La forza del destino ; the production was filmed (with Leontyne Price ). He sang the leporello for a production of the San Francisco Opera under the direction of Chung Myung-whun .

At the Salzburg Festival he appeared in La serva padrona under Leopold Hager , at the Glyndebourne Festival as Schaunard in La Bohème under John Pritchard . His roles at La Scala in Milan included Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore (directed by Giuseppe Patanè ) and Slook in La cambiale di matrimonio . At the Vienna State Opera he was in roles in L'elisir d'amore .
