The town is also known as Corral de Bustos-Ifflinger ; the second part of the name is related to the original name of the village, which over time was only used for the Barrio Ifflinger district . The residents of the city call themselves "Corrales".

Corral de Bustos-Ifflinger was founded in the early 20th century when the German Karl von Ifflinger asked the government of the province of Córdoba for permission to found a city that carries his family name. The government granted permission on November 14, 1901. This date is now regarded as the founding date of the city, which originally only included what is now Barrio Ifflinger .

Corral de Bustos has 10,407 inhabitants (Census 2010). The population was 9,389 in 1991 and 9,882 in 2001.
