Serralunga d'Alba is a municipality with 561 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Cuneo (CN), Piedmont region .

The patron saint of the community is San Sebastiano .

geography

The place is about 58 km from the provincial capital Cuneo at an altitude of 414 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of ​​8.44  km² .

The neighboring municipalities are Alba , Castiglione Falletto , Diano d'Alba , Monforte d'Alba , Montelupo Albese , Roddino and Sinio .

  • The medieval fortified castle ( Castello ), built in the middle of the 14th century by the Falletti family from Barolo (Piedmont) , has often been described in history as an impregnable fortress. The Castello, visible from afar, is open to the public. Around 1950 it was completely restored at the suggestion of the then President Luigi Einaudi .

Culinary specialties

In Serralunga d'Alba, vines of the Nebbiolo variety are grown for the Barolo red wine with DOCG status, as well as Dolcetto d'Alba , a red wine with DOC status.
