history

Megalithic graves in the municipality testify to an early historical settlement . Among other things, a gold bracelet and a bronze sword were found in the graves.

Kükels was first mentioned in 1305 as Kukeltze and originally belonged to Segeberg Monastery . There is probably a name connection with the Mözener See , which was originally called Küykelze .

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the CDU has had five seats since the 2013 local elections, and the AFWK electoral community has four.

Personalities

The former Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forests of Schleswig-Holstein Willy Rickers (1882–1957) was born in Kükels, as was the architect Adolf Cornehls (1864–1916).
