Fredesdorf is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The community of Fredesdorf has no other districts.
Geography and traffic
Fredesdorf is located about 8 km southwest of Bad Segeberg in the Geest . To the north, the federal road 206 runs from Bad Segeberg to Bad Bramstedt , and to the south-east, the federal road 432 runs from Bad Segeberg to Norderstedt .
The village lies in a heather and moor landscape , in which sheep farming originally predominated.

The village was founded around 1200.

Community representation
Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the Fredesdorf electoral association (WV) has four seats since the local elections on May 6, 2018, the AKPV electoral community has three seats and the UWF electoral community two seats. Mayor is again Peter Waldheuer (WV), first deputy is Hans-Christian Tödt (UWF) and the second deputy is Armin Sarau (WV).

economy
In the originally agricultural community, residential use continues to increase. There are also some craft businesses in the municipality.
In the past, peat was extracted in the bog areas in the municipality.
Personalities
The expressionist painter Christian Rohlfs (1849–1938) spent part of his childhood in Fredesdorf, where a doctor recognized Rohlfs' talent for painting after falling from a tree.
