About this picture

Travenhorst is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It consists of the districts of Kamp, Petersruh, Steenkrütz, Travenhorst and Travenort.

Geography and traffic

Travenhorst is located about 13 km northeast of Bad Segeberg in a rural area. The federal highway 432 runs south from Bad Segeberg to Scharbeutz .

Gut Travenort (later called Gut Kamp) is located on a promontory on the Trave and therefore got its name ("ort" = headland). In the 19th century August Schwerdtfeger was the owner of this manor, in 1895 it passed into the possession of Paul Isenberg . The translator Rita Öhquist was born on Travenort.

Gut Kamp offers holiday apartments. Schleswig-Holstein draft horses are bred on the estate .

politics

Since the local elections in 2008, the KWV has had all nine seats in the municipal council.
