Itzstedt [ ̩'itsʃteːt ] ( Low German Ietz ) is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Itzstedt is located about 16 km northeast of Norderstedt on the federal highway 432 , the connecting road Hamburg - Bad Segeberg .

The 7550 bus runs along the main road for the most part every hour from the Ochsenzoll underground station to Bad Segeberg station. On weekdays during rush hour in the direction of load (in the morning towards Hamburg, in the afternoon towards Bad Segeberg) the cycle is compressed to 30 minutes. On Sunday the bus runs every two hours.

In addition, on weekdays, a connection on line 7141 from Henstedt-Ulzburg station to Bad Oldesloe station is offered predominantly every two hours. This line also crosses the municipality of Itzstedt on the B432.

Until the 1970s, the Elmshorn-Barmstedt-Oldesloe Railway (EBO) owned a train station on the northern edge of Nahe, approx. 1 km from Itzstedt.

The place was first mentioned in 1317 and was originally called "de Iddest".

In the local elections on May 6, 2018, the CDU received 1,798 votes (30.7%), the SPD 1,792 votes (30.6%), the UBI 1,187 votes (20.3%) and the FDP 1,079 votes (18.4%) %). The SPD and CDU each received four seats, the UBI three and the FDP two seats in the municipal council.
