Leezen is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The districts of Heiderfeld , Krems I and Mühlenkamp belong to the municipality, which is the rural central town .
history
The village of Leezen probably came into being between 1150 and 1199, when Saxon settlers cleared the forest and settled in the border area with the Slavic areas (the Limes Saxoniae ran in the immediate vicinity). In a bull from Pope Innocent III. on October 10, 1199, an "ecclesia in latzinghe" (church in Leezen) is mentioned for the first time. In the deed of foundation of the Segeberg Church from March 17, 1137 by Emperor Lothar III. In contrast to Högersdorf , Schwissel and Mözen , Leezen is not mentioned as a taxable village. Not even in the confirmation document from Bishop Vicelin of September 25, 1150, which names other villages like Wahlstedt .
In the Thirty Years' War from 1618 to 1648 the Swedes Leezen and Heiderfeld, who had invaded Holstein , burned down. The desolate farms were later redistributed and the village rebuilt.
The stone church from the 12th century was replaced by a new building in 1870, except for the wooden bell tower.
