Location of the municipality of Heidmoor in the Segeberg district | ||
Heidmoor is a municipality in the extreme southwest of the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The current municipality has existed since 1951.
Geography and traffic
Heidmoor is located about eight kilometers southwest of Bad Bramstedt in a wooded area. The federal highway 206 runs to the north from Bad Bramstedt to Itzehoe , to the east the federal highway 4 and the federal highway 7 run from Hamburg to Bad Bramstedt.
To the west, Heidmoor borders the Pinneberg and Steinburg districts .
history
The whole area was part of the Hasselbuscher Forest until it was destroyed by a huge fire in 1911. The resulting open space was to be converted into arable land and was initially used for the construction of prisoner of war camps during the First World War . The first settlers came to the area in 1920, and the first settlement was completed in 1921.
After the fire in the Hasselbuscher Forest, an experimental farm was founded, which is now owned by the state. At the moment, however, only animal feed trials are being carried out there.
Until 1936, the area belonged to the Rantzau estate. Then the three settlements that were created in the meantime were divided into the communities of Lentföhrden , Nützen and Weddelbrook . In 1951 the community of Heidmoor was formed.
At the end of the 1950s, the Kaltenkirchen airport was planned, for the construction of which large areas in the municipality were bought up and many buildings were demolished. However, the construction of the airport is no longer planned today.
