geography

Geschendorf is located on the federal motorway 20 between the district town of Bad Segeberg and the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in the parish of Pronstorf . From 1916 to 1967 Geschendorf was the station of the Lübeck-Segeberger Railway .

history

Geschendorf was founded in the middle of the 12th century by Westphalian settlers. The place is mentioned for the first time in 1317 in the Lübeck Citizens' Roll Civilitates. Until the secularization , parts of the place were subject to the Segeberg Augustinian monastery.

Community representation

Of the nine seats in the municipal council has the Wählergemeinschaft AGKW since the municipal election 2008, six seats and the voter community ABG three.

Blazon : “Divided by gold and silver by a blue sloping bar in a snake cut. Above a green linden leaf with fruit cluster, below three green cattails. "

Meaning:

The linden leaf represents the large number of linden trees within the village. In addition to the many trees, there is also the Lindenhof restaurant and Lindenstrasse.

The cattails represent the Geschendorfer Moor, in which peat was extracted early on.

The blue river that runs through the coat of arms represents the great water vein.

Economy and Infrastructure

After the Second World War, the rural structure of the place changed until then. Today there are a large number of commercial and service companies. Geschendorf is connected to Lübeck and Bad Segeberg via the A 20 federal motorway. The A 20 from Lübeck to Bad Segeberg has already been expanded. Geschendorf has its own entrance and exit with a small adjacent industrial park, which has a gas station and a car workshop.
