Geography and traffic

Damsdorf is located on the Stocksee about 22 km east of Neumünster in a rural area with many lakes. The federal highway 21 runs to the west from Bad Segeberg to Kiel , to the north the federal highway 430 runs from Neumünster to Plön .

Part of the municipality is located in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park .

history

Damsdorf was first mentioned in the 14th century. A grain and barley windmill was only demolished in 1941 after a fire.

On October 1, 1937, the municipality of Damsdorf was merged with the municipality of the neighboring village of Stocksee under the name Stocksee. In 1948 the municipal council passed the resolution to separate the municipalities from each other again, and on March 31, 1951 this resolution was implemented.

The voter community WGD has had all nine seats in the municipal council since the local elections in 2013.

economy

Gravel mining is an important source of income, almost half of the municipal area is used by gravel works. Some of the gravel pits are being renatured today.
