history

The name Stuvenborn is interpreted as: "from the Bornigen country, interspersed with alders and willows ". Some small contemporary witnesses can still be found in the clay hollows today. The place name "Stuvenborn" could be derived from the steps down from Kattendorf and Kisdorfer-Wohld. The expansion of Brook and Ruhlo was created with the coupling from 1787 and the settlement of the Kalten Weide came about with the construction of the road to Sievershütten around 1900.

In the years from 1880 to the First World War, the village green was marked out with twenty linden trees as the center of the village, and an oak with a memorial stone was placed in the middle for Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. In 1884 the first dairy was built on "Bahlweg". In 1894 the school was rebuilt and a poor house was built where today there is an after-work dormitory with eight residential units.

An improvement of the parcels and the road network through a land consolidation procedure from 1963 to 1968 ensured better agricultural management with the advancing mechanization. A second land consolidation with landscape maintenance, accompanied by a village renewal in 1987, continued the quality of life in Stuvenborn. In 1961, Stuvenborn received the gold medal for the “most beautiful German village”.

With seven small settlement areas around the town center, sustainable growth from the village was guaranteed. Settlement am Heidberg 1965, expanded 1986. Settlement Hampfhof 1959. New building area at Sportfeld 1969, residential complex Kamp 1969, settlement areas Lohe 1992, Beek 1995 and Im Kahlen 2011.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on October 4, 1963.

Blazon : "In green, in front of a silver wavy bar in the base of the shield, a red-armored golden cock ready to fight, accompanied by a golden disc (gold medal) with a hanging loop at the top left."

On the occasion of the award of the gold medal for the “most beautiful German village” in 1961, the municipality of Stuvenborn applied for approval of its own coat of arms. This distinction found its way into the coat of arms in the form of the golden disc. The dominant figure of the rooster represents on the one hand the agricultural orientation of the place, on the other hand it is the symbol of the prudence and openness of the residents. First and foremost, however, this figure also stands for the award won as the “most beautiful village”, which the state government honored with a bronze rooster as an honorary award. The wavy bar in the base of the shield refers to the second part of the place name (born = source, well). Stuvenborn means something like "to the floating spring". This means that this coat of arms can also be counted among the "talking" landmarks.

The coat of arms was designed by the Brunsbüttel heraldist Willy "Horsa" Lippert .
