Schmalensee is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

The community is located on the Schmalensee lake of the same name, which belongs to the Bornhöved community, about 21 km east of Neumünster in a rural area with many lakes. The federal highway 21 runs to the west from Bargteheide to Kiel , the federal highway 430 from Neumünster to Plön runs through the municipality.

Schmalensee is a recognized tourist destination.
