About this picture

Wiemersdorf ( Low German Wiemersdbod) is a municipality in the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

Wiemersdorf is located about five kilometers north of Bad Bramstedt in a rural area on the state road 319. To the south, the federal road 206 runs from Bad Bramstedt to Itzehoe , to the east, the federal freeway 7 from Hamburg to Flensburg .

The community is located on the Hamburg-Altona-Neumünster railway line of the AKN .

history

The first traces of settlement are already around 2500 years old, at that time lawn iron ore was mined. Wiemersdorf was first mentioned in 1141 as Wimeresthorpe . About 290 people lived here around 1800. Until a few decades ago, the inhabitants lived mainly from agriculture; in the 19th century, Wiemersdorf was also an important location for the production of bricks , which are also shown in the coat of arms.

The tradition still cultivated today of holding a “Dörps” meeting on Martin's Day can be traced back over 250 years, but is probably older.

politics

Community representation

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the KBV community of voters has eight since the 2018 local elections, the community of voters “Citizens for Wiemersdorf” (BfW) three and the SPD two seats.

Leisure and Tourism

The nature park path , which connects the five nature parks in Schleswig-Holstein for hikers, runs through the village .

There are around 80 demarcation signs written in Low German with humorous comments in the municipality . In 1978 it was decided to put up these signs so that the old field names would not be forgotten.
