A moor landscape is a landscape shaped by moor biotopes . Moorlands mainly formed after the last ice age . Bogs are characterized by a constant excess of water from precipitation and / or mineral soil water, which results in the formation of peat . Lack of oxygen leads to incomplete degradation of the plant residues that are deposited, which causes the surface of living bogs to grow upwards. The use of the moorland has left traces and changed them. Most of the moorlands today are cultural and not natural .
