Reception building of Haspelmoor station

Haspelmoor is a district and a village in the municipality of Hattenhofen in the Fürstenfeldbruck district and is located in Bavaria . The village is named after the Haspelmoor of the same name , which borders the town in the south.

Haspelmoor is located directly on the Munich – Augsburg railway line and has a train station. The town is separated by the railway line into a larger northern part and a smaller southern part. The Munich - Augsburg line was opened on October 4, 1840. Haspelmoor was not established until 1853. In that year the Haspelmoor train station was built, and in 1855 the Haspelmoor post office was added. There was also an inn and two other houses. In 1862 Haspelmoor was a hamlet , consisting of the train station building and in the moor the peat operations building with a boiler house and five stores, a "workers' barracks" with accessories and a blacksmith and carpentry workshop.

From 1915 a prisoner-of-war camp for 176 Russian prisoners of war was established in Haspelmoor. The "Russengraben", which had to be dug by them, reminds of them. Further drainage work in the moor was carried out by the Reich Labor Service from 1933 onwards and again by prisoners of war from the start of the war. Several buildings were destroyed by bombing in the final weeks of World War II. In 1946 a settlement for displaced persons was built in Haspelmoor . By 1950 there were 51 residential buildings with 312 residents. The railway line on the high-speed line from Augsburg to Munich enabled top speeds of 200 km / h as early as 1954.

In 1994 the local chapel named after Father Rupert Mayer was consecrated.

The locality is also called "moss" by its inhabitants.
