Dolcetto d'Alba is an Italian red wine from the provinces of Cuneo and Asti in the Piedmont region . The area around the municipality of Alba received the status of a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC for short) on July 16, 1974 , which was updated on May 17, 2015.

Cultivation

  • The cultivation and vinification of the wine is permitted in the entire municipality of 25 municipalities:
Approved vineyards are in the municipalities of Alba, Albaretto della Torre, Arguello, Barolo, Benevello, Borgomale, Bosia, Camo, Castiglione Falletto, Castiglione Tinella, Castino, Cossano Belbo, Grinzane Cavour, Lequio Berria, Mango, Monforte d'Alba, Montelupo Albese, Neviglie, Rocchetta Belbo Rodello, San Stefano Belbo, Serralunga d'Alba, Sinio, Treiso and Trezzo Tinella (all in the province of Cuneo) and in the municipality of Coazzolo in the province of Asti.
  • Furthermore, cultivation is permitted in parts of the following municipalities:
Barbaresco , Bosia , Castino , Cherasco , Narzole , Neive , Novello , La Morra , Perletto , Roddi , Serole , Torre Bormida and Verduno .

In 2017, 51,161 hectoliters of the DOC wine were produced.

The Dolcetto d'Alba is made from 100% Dolcetto grapes . This designation of origin is the most important of the six denominations dedicated to the Dolcetto. The yield restriction is 58.5 hl / ha.
