Gabiano (wine)
Gabiano is a red wine from the Gabiano area in Piedmont. The wine has had the status of a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since July 15, 1983 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Cultivation
The cultivation and vinification of wines is permitted in the municipalities of Gabiano and Moncestino in the province of Alexandria .
generation
The wine is made from the grape varieties Barbera (90–95%) as well as Freisa and Grignolino (individually or together) to a maximum of 5–10%.

- Color: from ruby red to garnet red with increasing ripeness
- Odor: vinous, characteristic
- Taste: dry, harmonious, full-bodied
- Alcohol content: at least 12.0 % by volume , for the "Riserva" rating at least 12.5% by volume
- Acidity : at least 5.0 g / l
- Dry extract : at least 22.0 g / l
Some of the vineyards in Gabiano belong to the DOC Rubino di Cantavenna .
