Albugnano (wine)

Albugnano is an Italian red wine or rosé wine ( Rosato ) from Piedmont . Since May 6, 1997 it has the status of a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC). The cultivation area includes the municipalities of Albugnano, Pino d'Asti , Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Passerano Marmorito . In 2014, 823 hl of wine were produced on 13 hectares of vineyards. The wine is one of the rarities in Italian viticulture.

Production regulations

Red and rosé wines are made from the grape varieties Nebbiolo (85–100%) as well as Freisa , Barbera and Bonarda (individually or together 0–15%). The Superiore wine must be aged for not less than a year (from January 1st after the harvest), of which at least 6 months in oak barrels.
