Calosso (wine)

Calosso DOC has been a “controlled designation of origin ” for Italian red wines from the area around Asti , Piedmont , since 2011 . The wine-growing area for the production of quality wine is very small.

Growing area

The municipalities of Calosso , Castagnole delle Lanze and Costigliole d'Asti are planned for cultivation .

Red wines with the designation “Calosso” (also called Riserva ) and “Calosso Passarà” (using the Passito process) are produced. The grape varieties used are: 90… 100% Gamba rossa and 0… 10% red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in Piedmont.
