List of brick buildings of the Gótico-Mudéjar in Spain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Division of Spain into autonomous communities and provinces

This article is part of the list work Brick Buildings of the Gothic .

In Spain , brick building was a specialty of Moorish craftsmen until the early 17th century and was therefore shaped by Islamic - Oriental traditions. Gothic buildings in Spain were mainly built by master builders brought in from core Europe. The extent to which Mudéjares adopted the new style varied from region to region. A considerable number of her buildings can be clearly distinguished according to features of European styles, first the Romanesque, then the Gothic, and finally the Renaissance.

As long as both Christian and Islamic states existed in Spain, people of the Islamic and Jewish religions could also live unmolested in the Christian states. This is why Mudejar architecture also emerged in regions that had been ruled by Christianity for centuries. After the conclusion of the Reconquista in 1492, the Jews were expelled by two royal orders in 1492 and 1513, and the situation of the Mohammedans gradually deteriorated. In 1610 the last Mudejares were expelled.
