history
Tauste can be traced for the first time during the Moors in the 8th century. In 1105 it was conquered by Alfonso I (Aragón) . The Tauste Canal was built in the 14th century. After 1954, the Bardenas (Plan Bardenas) were settled with the new villages of Sancho Abarca and Santa Engracia.
During the civil war there was a field airfield northwest of Taustes , which was used by Spanish and Italian units as well as by parts of the German Condor Legion . A part of the Dornier Do 17 "Bacalao" of the reconnaissance squadron 88 (A / 88) was located here until May 1938 , while the rest was in Buñuel 20 km northwest. The remnants of the group returned to Tauste for a month to regenerate after the Battle of the Ebro in mid-November 1938, and with the beginning of the last offensive of the Franco troops for the final conquest of Catalonia, the majority of the machines moved to neighboring Buñuel. The last copies were moved to the conquered Sabadell at the end of January 1939 .
