La Almunia de Doña Godina is the capital of the Comarca Valdejalón in the Spanish province of Zaragoza . It is located about 50 kilometers west of Zaragoza halfway to Calatayud on the A-2 motorway . The Jalón River flows through the municipality.
In the cityscape, the steeple of the Iglesia de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora ( Church of the Assumption ) stands out, an example of Mudejar architecture in Aragon. La Almunia is also known regionally for the Escuela Universitaria Politécnica de La Almunia (EUPLA), which is part of the University of Saragossa . The engineering courses in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, agriculture, horticulture and field engineering, computer science, technical architecture and civil engineering for public buildings are taught at EUPLA .
