Sástago is a Spanish municipality in the province of Zaragoza in the autonomous region of Aragon . It is located in the comarca of Ribera Baja del Ebro on the Ebro .
history
Where as early as the time of the Iberians populated place an emerged Moorish castle. King Alfonso el Batallador succeeded in conquering in 1133 and the place came under the rule of the Alagon family, who were raised to the rank of count in 1511, who later named themselves after the place and belonged to the outstanding families in Aragon. There were ongoing territorial disputes with the Rueda monastery . The Moriski population was expelled in the 17th century. The place was known for its knife production.
