Nuévalos is a Spanish municipality in the Zaragoza province of the Aragón Autonomous Region . It is located in the Comarca Comunidad de Calatayud about 26 km southwest of Calatayud on the A-202 road at the Embalse de la Tranquera reservoir and had 310 inhabitants on January 1, 2019. The municipality includes the villages of Nuévalos, Lugar Nuevo, Monasterio de Piedra and La Tranquera.
history
Nuévalos is first handed down in 1156, when Raimund Berengar of Barcelona gave the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Calatayud sovereignty over the place. The church already existed as a foundation of the Bishop of Tarazona in 1228. During the war of Peter , the castle withstood the attack of King Peter I of Castile . In 1372 Nuévalos was confirmed in possession of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher.
