The place Sos del Rey Católico is located in the northwest of the province of Saragossa in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain in the Comarca Cinco Villas ( Five Small Towns ). The community had 590 inhabitants on January 1, 2019. Sos includes the localities of Barués, Campo Real, Mamillas and Sofuentes.
history
The place should have been inhabited as early as Roman times. It was under Moorish rule for a short time , but was attached to the Kingdom of Aragon by Ramiro I in 1044 . In 1452, the Infante Ferdinand, who later became King Ferdinand the Catholic, was born here, who gave the place its nickname. In 1711 Sos became the capital of the Comarca Cinco Villas . In 1968 the town center was placed under monument protection as Conjunto histórico-artístico . The location was the location of the film La vaquilla in 1985
