Lendinara is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,550 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rovigo in Veneto . The municipality borders directly on the province of Padua and is about 14.5 kilometers west of Rovigo and about 27 kilometers north of Ferrara . The Etsch flows on the northern edge of the municipality . Lendinara is part of the Polesine , the area between the Adige and the Po . A small tributary to the Adige, the Naviglio Adigetto, flows through the municipality . Lendinara has had the title città (city) since 1495.

history

Lendinara is originally a Celtic foundation. Numerous archaeological finds prove a rich settlement. The place was first mentioned in documents in 870. In 1246 the place was devastated by Ezzelino da Romano .

Lendinara is on Strada Statale 499 . Strada Statale 434 Transpolesana runs a little south of the municipality, and to the east is the A31 autostrada from Padua to Bologna . There is a train station on the non-electrified railway line from Verona to Rovigo. The former train station in Ramodipalo is now closed.
