history
The place is first mentioned in a document in 938. Due to its location at a crossing point of ancient roads, an earlier settlement is likely. In 1017 the place was placed under the rule of the Benedictine Abbey of Nonantola . The property passed to the Bishop of Ferrara in 1101 .
