Polesella Municipal Council

Polesella is a north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3824 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rovigo in Veneto . The municipality is located about 11.5 kilometers south of Rovigo on the Po and about 18 kilometers northeast of Ferrara . Polesella borders directly on the province of Ferrara and is part of the southern Polesine .

history

Polesella was in the Etruscan settlement area. However, the breach of the dam in 589 ( Rotta di Cucca ) had completely flooded the area and destroyed possible evidence. In 1509 the Battle of Polesella took place on the Po , in which the Duke of Ferrara destroyed the galleys of the Republic of Venice .

Polesella has partnerships with the Slovak city of Lučenec in the Poiplie region and with the Croatian municipality of Svetvinčenat in the Istria County .
