The Padua – Bologna line is an Italian main line connecting the major Italian cities of Padua (and thus Venice ) and Bologna .

The line is operated by RFI , has two tracks and is electrified with 3 kV direct current .

history

In 1862 the section from Bologna via Ferrara to the Po bank at Pontelagoscuro was opened. Four years later, the line from Padua to Rovigo went into operation , at that time on Austrian territory .

The missing section was put into operation a few months later after the annexation of Veneto to the Kingdom of Italy (1866) as a result of the German War .
