Bologna – Ancona railway line
The Bologna – Ancona railway is an Italian main line under the management of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane .
It starts in Ancona in the Marche region and leads along the Adriatic coast to Rimini , the gateway to Emilia-Romagna . In the section between Rimini and Bologna the area passed through is flat. The railway line is double-tracked and electrified, and has a remarkable flow of goods and passengers. From the exit from Bologna Centrale to the entrance to Cesena, it runs in a straight line. All types of trains run on this route. The most important places on the line are, besides the two terminus, Rimini, Pesaro , Cesena and Forlì , while the main railway hubs are Ancona , Falconara Marittima , Rimini , Faenza , Castel Bolognese and Bologna Centrale .
The concession to operate the railway line was granted on May 21, 1856 and the opening took place until the end of 1861: the Bologna – Forli section on September 1, 1861, the section to Rimini on October 5, 1861 and the entire Bologna-Ancona railway line could on To be inaugurated November 17, 1861.
