Bagnolo di Po is an Italian municipality with 1203 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Rovigo in the Veneto region .

It covers an area of ​​21 km². It is located around 2 km south of the Tartaro and Canda and belongs to the Area Geografica: Alto Polesine . Districts are Runzi, Fornace Maule, Pelizzare and Corà. The neighboring municipalities are Canda , Castelguglielmo , Ficarolo , Gaiba , Salara , Stienta and Trecenta .

A partnership with the German municipality of Kirchberg im Wald has existed since 1994 . The reason for the decision was the common local patron , Saint Gotthard .

history

The area has been the property of the Este family since the 10th century , and a municipality since the 15th century. In 1597 the territory fell to the Papal States (until 1796). In the Cisalpine Republic , the place was assigned to the Basso Po department with its seat in Ferrara in 1800 . By the Napoleonic decree of 1805 when the Kingdom of Italy was founded, the subdivision of the department was refined, Bagnolo belonged to the First District and Canton III Trecenta. In the Lombardy-Venetian kingdom the province of Polesine was created and the place was assigned to the district of Badia . In 1845 Bagnolo and Runzi are part of the province of Rovigo. In 1866, the Kingdom of Italy was also assigned to the province of Rovigo.
