Amandola (in the local dialect: Amàndola or La Mannola ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3471 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Fermo in Marche .

The location of Amandola in the province of Fermo

The municipality is located about 45 kilometers southwest of Fermo , about 33 kilometers northwest of Ascoli Piceno and about 36 kilometers south-southwest of Macerata on the Parco nazionale dei Monti Sibillini . Amandola borders directly on the province of Macerata and the province of Ascoli Piceno .

history

The municipality and town of Amandola was created in 1248 from the merger of the towns (or fortifications) Agello, Leone and Marrubino.

traffic

In the municipality the former Strada Statale 78 Picena ran towards Ascoli Piceno, at the same time the former Strada Statale 210 Fermana Faleriense ended here . Both are provincial roads today. The narrow-gauge railway line (950 mm) between Porto San Giorgio and Amandola has been closed since 1956.
