Valsamoggia is an Italian municipality with 31,498 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Bologna ( Emilia-Romagna region ). It was founded on January 1, 2014 from the municipalities of Bazzano , Castello di Serravalle , Crespellano , Monteveglio and Savigno . The administrative headquarters are in Bazzano.
The municipal merger was preceded by a referendum on November 25, 2012, in which a majority in Castello di Serravalle, Crespellano and Monteveglio was in favor and in Bazzano and Savigno a majority was against the merger. Taken together, this resulted in a vote of 51.46% for the merger.
geography
Valsamoggia is located in the west of the metropolitan city of Bologna on the border with the province of Modena . The mostly hilly municipal area, which is only flat in the north, is densely populated and extends along the course of the Samoggia river , a tributary of the Reno .
traffic
The A1 Autostrada from Modena to Bologna runs through the northern municipality, but without a junction within the municipality, as well as state road 9 as the northernmost border .
The municipality is located on the Casalecchio – Vignola railway line and has a total of four stations with Via Lunga, Crespellano, Muffa and Bazzano.
