Malalbergo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9,107 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the metropolitan city of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 27.5 kilometers northeast of Bologna and about 14 kilometers southwest of Ferrara . The municipality of Malalbergo borders directly on the province of Ferrara . The Canale Navile , which was created in the High Middle Ages, runs through the municipality .

To the west of the municipality, the A13 autostrada runs from Bologna towards Padua ; however, there is no connection. Strada Statale 64 leads directly through the municipality and through the village .
