The Nissan Tiida (ryukyuisch for "sun", a reference to one of the predecessors "Sunny") is a passenger car model of the compact class that the Japanese carmaker since autumn 2004 Nissan produced. In America it is referred to as Nissan Versa , in Malaysia and Indonesia as Nissan Latio .

In Mexico, the Tiida was assembled under the US brand Dodge at the Nissan Civac plant in Cuernavaca under the name Dodge Trazo . In South America, on the other hand, the Trazo was a separate automobile brand and, like in Mexico, was only available in 2008 and 2009. Under the Trazo brand, the Tiida was named Trazo C and was only available as a notchback in a 1.8-liter version. The Trazo brand has now been abandoned.

Sales of the Tiida took place in Japan in September 2004, in China in 2005 and in North America it was introduced at the Detroit Motor Show at the end of 2006 . In autumn 2007 it made its debut in numerous European countries and from the end of January 2008 it was finally offered in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The Tiida replaced the Almera and Primera models on the European market and was placed between the Note and Qashqai models . As a classic world car , it is produced at several locations in Japan, China, Mexico, Thailand and Taiwan and exported to up to 165 countries.

The first generation is based on the Group's B platform, which is used jointly with Renault , but, as with the Nissan Note, it was used in an extended version with a larger wheelbase. This made it possible to create a large amount of space that is almost on a par with a mid-range vehicle. The C11 is available as a five-door hatchback or a notchback with four doors, which is sold in Japan under the name Nissan Latio . The design is based on other models from the Nissan group such as the Murano or the Note.

In spring 2011 the import of the Tiida to Europe was stopped because the demand was too low. The pulsar has replaced the Tiida here since autumn 2014 .

At the end of 2011, production was stopped everywhere (except for Thailand and Malaysia ).

Equipment in Germany

There were three equipment variants to choose from for the Tiida, which already included an extensive safety package as standard. Driver, passenger, side and head airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution , electronic stability program , three-point seat belts on all seats and active headrests at the front were all ex works. A further feature of all equipment is the asymmetrically foldable backrest, which on the hatchback model can be pushed forward 240 mm, increasing the trunk volume from 300 to 425 liters. The notchback model has storage space of 500 liters.

The base line Visia also offered electric power steering, central locking, electric windows front and rear, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and bumpers and door handles painted in body color. A comfort package with air conditioning, CD radio with four loudspeakers, Bluetooth interface and steering wheel remote control was available for a surcharge.

The next higher equipment, called Acenta, was in addition to the features of the basic equipment with cruise control , CD radio with six loudspeakers, on-board computer , steering wheel remote control, 15 "alloy wheels, rain sensor , leather steering wheel, fog lights, automatic climate control, rear center armrest and additional shelves. A sliding roof made of glass as well as an executive package with DVD navigation system including CD changer were optionally available.

Tekna was the name of the top equipment that included all the details of the Visia and Acenta lines. It also included a CD changer, keyless go system , electrically folding exterior mirrors, a glass sunroof and partial leather seat covers. Upon request, a DVD navigation system and a topline package consisting of full leather seats, xenon headlights with headlight cleaning system and seat heating could be ordered.

Engines

In Japan, variants with 1.5 and 1.8 liter four-cylinder engines are on offer, while other engine units and a version with a Renault diesel engine are also sold abroad. The 1.5 l is also available with all-wheel drive, a manual transmission is only available for the 1.8, all other versions have a four-speed automatic or a continuously variable CVT automatic. The North American Versa models are manufactured at the Nissan plant in Mexico and are only available with a 1.8-liter engine and front-wheel drive.

For Germany, the car was equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 81 kW (110 hp) and a maximum torque of 153 Nm as the basic engine. A 4-speed automatic transmission and a manual 5-speed transmission were available as transmissions. Consumption was given as 6.9 l / 100 km and 165 grams of CO 2 per km for the switch and 7.9 l / 100 km and 178 grams of CO 2 per km for the automatic transmission. The petrol range was supplemented by a 1.8 liter engine, which in Germany develops 93 kW (126 hp) and 173 Nm maximum torque. Only a six-speed manual gearbox was available for this, with consumption of 7.8 l / 100 km and CO 2 emissions of 188 g / km. A diesel engine developed by the alliance partner Renault with 78 kW (106 hp) and a torque of 240 Nm was also available. The engine, which can only be combined with a manual six-speed gearshift, consumes 5.2 l / 100 km and has CO 2 emissions of 138 g / km.

Registration numbers

Between 2007 and 2011, 6,975 Nissan Tiida were newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. With 3,937 units, 2008 was by far the most successful sales year.

Tiida from the 2006 Chinese Touring Car Championship

The Nissan Tiida C11 was successfully used in Chinese touring car racing. The road cars on the basis of which the racing vehicles were built rolled off the assembly line at the Dongfeng plant in Guangzhou , which Nissan vehicles manufacture under license. The Ghia Sports Team from Zhuhai was responsible for the race-ready setup . Nismo was responsible for the engine and transmission , which were able to bring the HR16DE engine used to an output of over 160 hp.

From 2006 onwards, two Tiida C11s competed in the 1600 cc class of the China Circuit Championship (CCC). The cars revised for racing weighed 1000 kg each and were looked after by the DongFeng Nissan Ghia Sports Team . In the first season there were six races on the three courses Shanghai International Circuit , Goldenport Park Circuit ( Beijing ) and Zhuhai International Circuit , which were held from March 11 to October 29, 2006. Each racetrack was driven twice. This year Nissan was able to win the driver's championship title with the Tiida.

In 2007 Nissan competed again with the Tiida in the CCC, this time with a sequential 6-speed gearbox and a weight increase to 1015 kg resulting from the regulations. Again there were six races to be completed, which were held on the same courses as last season. However, there was only one race in Zhuhai, while there were three races in Beijing. After this season, the best result was third place in the drivers' championship.

In the following year, Nissan was able to build on the successes of the 2006 season. In order to maintain the competitiveness of the Tiida, some changes were made to the aerodynamics and cornering behavior, for example through a lower center of gravity and larger 17-inch wheels. A run on the Chengdu International Circuit, which was opened in 2007, and on the Shanghai Tianma Circuit, the well-known venues have now been added to the racing calendar . After six races that were completed between April and December, Nissan emerged as the winner of the drivers 'and constructors' championships at the end of the 2008 season.

For the 2009 season the series was renamed the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) and another racing event was added to the Guangdong International Circuit , while the events in Chengdu and Zhuhai were canceled. The number of six races remained unchanged, however. At the end of the season, Nissan was able to record second place as the best result in the drivers' championship, and the same rank was achieved in the team championship.

The racing calendar for the 2010 season provided for eight races that were held between April and December. The races took place in Shanghai, Zhuhai, Chengdu, Beijing, Guangdong and the newly opened Ordos International Circuit , where the CTCC run was the first race in the history of the newly built track. This year, three Tiida were used first, which were reinforced by another car in the last two runs. This year ended with the worst result so far for the Tiida in Chinese touring car racing after only one finish among the top three during the current season.
