The Dodge Ram Wagon was a large van ("Fullsize Van"), which was sold from 1971 to 2003 by the Chrysler Group under the brand name Dodge . It was available as a box van for transporting goods, as a minibus for transporting people and also as special equipment such as an ambulance or a mobile home.

The Ram Wagon was available in short, long and maxi-long versions on chassis with wheelbases of 2769 mm and 3226 mm. The external appearance was revised for the 1994 model year, which was the first facelift since 1971, although the main headlights, grille and taillights were revised during this time. The dashboard was last changed in 1978 and remained in this form until 1997 when it received holders for drinking cups.

There was a camper extension called Dodge Sportsman from 1978 to 1994; it contained a group of seats and a place to sleep. In 1998, the engine was moved forward 10 cm, increasing the interior space. The resulting changes in the external shape made the vehicle look a bit “pushed out” at the front. In 1995 Dodge changed the serial numbers to 1500, 2500 and 3500 (previously it was 150, 250 and 350). In 1995 or 1996 the rear armrest disappeared. In 1997 the front triangular windows could no longer be opened, in 1998 they disappeared completely.

If you disregard the driving characteristics and the engine power, there are hardly any differences between a Ram Wagon from 2003 and a "Sportsman Royal" from 1973. The names "Ram Van" and "Ram Wagon" replace the model names "Tradesman" and "Sportsman" Dodge used to refer to the van and minibus.

The Dodge Ram Wagon was available in three versions:

  • 1500 ( wheelbase 2769 mm or 3226 mm)
  • 2500 (wheelbase 2769 mm or 3226 mm)
  • 3500 (wheelbase 3226 mm and long body as maxi-wagon)

The merger of Chrysler and Daimler-Benz brought about some changes in the Dodge model range. The Ram Van was the first model to be discontinued in 2003 and replaced by a European model: the new Dodge Sprinter was derived from the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and was offered until 2010.
