1955-1957
In 1955 the Meadowbrook fell away, making the Coronet the cheapest Dodge offer. The Royal was the middle range and the top model was the Custom Royal. The cars were powered by a V8 Chrysler Hemi engine with a displacement of 5211 cm³, which - depending on the carburettor equipment - made 218 to 260 bhp.
There were a number of construction variants:
- 4-door sedan
- 4-door hardtop sedan - the Lancer
- 2-door hardtop coupé - also called the Lancer .
- 2-door hardtop special model 1955/56 - the La Femme
- 2-door convertible
1958-1959
The 1958 and 1959 models of the Custom Royal, Coronet and Royal had DeSoto chassis, but had fewer chrome trims. The engines were the 4.4 liter V8 “Red Ram” or the “Super Red Ram” with 5.3 to 5.9 liters and from 1959 also the 6.3 liter “D-500” and “Super” D-500 "available with 2 4-way carburettors.
In the 1960 model year, the Custom Royal was replaced by the Polara model.
