The Dodge Spirit was a mid-range sedan with front-wheel drive offered by the US automobile manufacturer Dodge from 1988 to 1995.
The Spirit appeared in the summer of 1988 as the successor to the Dodge 600 . Its sister models in the group were the simultaneously released Plymouth Acclaim and the 1989 Chrysler LeBaron sedan.
The Spirit was powered by Chrysler's 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder or a three-liter V6, the latter coupled with a four-speed automatic transmission as standard. From 1989 to 1992 there was also a turbo version of the 2.5-liter, 1991/92 in the Spirit R / T (to which neither Plymouth nor Chrysler had a counterpart) a high-performance version of the 2.2-liter turbo in-line four-cylinder with 227 hp.
The following model versions were offered during the construction period of the Spirit:
- Spirit (1988-1995)
- Spirit ES (1988-1993)
- Spirit LE (1989-1992)
- Spirit R / T (1991-1992)
The spirit experienced only minor changes during its lifetime. Most noticeable was the use of a new radiator grille from autumn 1992.
In 1995 production was stopped. A total of 471,000 copies of the Dodge Spirit were made.
