The Dodge Dart is a compact class vehicle from the Dodge brand , which was produced between 2012 and 2016 in Belvidere, Illinois . It was presented at the North American International Auto Show in January 2012 and took up the model name Dart , which was used from 1959 to 1976 . The Dart shares a revised C platform from FCA Fiat Chrysler with its group siblings Alfa Romeo Giulietta , Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee .
A variant of the Dart was produced by GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles until 2017 as Fiat Viaggio and as a hatchback variant Fiat Ottimo for the Chinese market.
Dodge darts
The development of the dart was primarily a political decision after the merger of Fiat and Chrysler, as Chrysler was obliged to include a model with low fuel consumption in its range in return for subsidies.
There was a choice of three gasoline engines with four cylinders for the dart. A 118 kW (160 PS) two-liter engine, an equally powerful 1.4-liter turbo with Multiair valve control from Fiat and a new 138 kW (187 PS) 2.4-liter petrol engine, also with Multiair valve control.
