The first generation was presented on November 6, 2007 as the successor to the Hyundai Atos in New Delhi .
In the spring of 2011, a revised model with a different look and more efficient engines with 51 kW (69 PS) and 63 kW (86 PS) appeared.
In Mexico, the model is sold as i10 by Dodge through the Dodge distribution network, but with Hyundai logos.
Equipment
The basic version of Classic comes standard with a CD - MP3 - Radio with AUX connection (to 2011), a crash-optimized passenger, ABS with brake force distribution and front airbags for driver and front passenger. Also pretensioners , folding rear seats and a power steering are standard with, but no interval wipers . The higher-quality style version is also equipped with central locking with remote control, electric windows at the front and rear and side airbags at the front. A folding roof, a rear spoiler and leather controls are available for an extra charge . The interior is designed to match the paintwork with accents in red, blue or silver, for the Classic in black / gray; There is a choice of ten different exterior paint finishes for the exterior.
Shortly after the market launch, Hyundai presented the "Classic E" variant, which had a basic advertising price of less than € 10,000. The only difference to the Classic are the smaller wheels, which allow a combined fuel consumption of 5.0 l and CO 2 emissions of 119 g / km according to 1999/94 / EC standard.
Like its predecessor, the car has five doors. The trunk has a capacity of 225 liters (Atos: 263 l) and can be expanded by folding down the 60:40 divisible rear seat backrest. The i10 (first generation) and the Atos also have in common the high, but rather narrow body, which gives the car the appearance of microvans .
Engines
There are two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The revised 1.1-liter gasoline engine with 49 kW (67 hp) and a maximum torque of 98 Nm from the Atos is used for the gasoline engines . This means it reaches a top speed of 151 km / h and consumes 5.0 liters per 100 km. In addition to the standard five-speed manual transmission, a four-speed automatic is also available for this engine. There is also a 1.1-liter three-cylinder series - common rail -Diesel with 55 kW (75 hp) and a maximum torque of 155 Nm. With this engine, a top speed of 165 km / h can be achieved. The consumption is 4.3 liters per 100 km.
Since October 2008, there has also been a newly developed 1.25-liter gasoline engine with 57 kW (78 PS), which offers significantly better performance with the same consumption. The new engine has 4 instead of 3 valves per cylinder, a timing chain instead of a toothed belt , a lighter housing and a new engine management system.
At the IAA 2011, Hyundai is showing the series version of the i10 Blue On electric vehicle , which has a lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity of 16.4 kWh. It should have a range of 140 kilometers. The electric motor has an output of 61 kW / 83 PS and a torque of 210 Newton meters. According to the manufacturer, the performance should reach a top speed of 130 km / h and an acceleration of 0 to 100 km / h in 13.1 seconds.

Facelift
In spring 2011, the i10 was visually redesigned, including enlarged lights and a modified bumper with deeper reflectors. In the course of this, the engines were also revised so that the 1.1-liter gasoline engine now delivers 51 kW (69 hp) at 4.7 l (110 g / km CO 2 ) and the 1.2 l 63 kW (86 PS) at 4.6 l (108 g / km CO 2 ). The diesel, which is unusual in this class, has been omitted. In the interior, a new speedometer, rev counter, front electric windows and new seat covers complete the basic equipment.
